Continental Area Shelf Exchange Study (CASES)

Canadian Coast Guard vessel, Amundsen,
or David's home for 6 months

Principle Investigators: Kirk Cochran at MSRC and Louis Fortier at Univ. Laval, Canada (CASES leader)

Funded by NSERC – Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

Student Supported: David Amiel, M.S., Ph.D.

Project Description: The overarching hypothesis of CASES is that the atmospheric, oceanic and hydrologic forcing of sea ice variability dictates the nature and magnitude of biogeochemical carbon fluxes on and at the edge of the Mackenzie Shelf. Our task is to evaluate these physical, biological and chemical forcings.
